An Introduction to computers component by component

Building a Computer Component by component

Why?

This coming age of computer technology is going to offer up some outstanding opportunities to get never before heard of performance out of our home computer rigs.

At prices that equal the great line from the castle “tell im his dreamin son “

However with choice comes responsibility – that’s why being able to see the computer in its component form helps you gain a better understanding of what you are paying for or not paying for

Rather than being presented a vanilla box with a price tag that has been worked out to optimise profits and uptake, Rather than performance and reliability

It’s not as hard, as it first may seem there are only 8 basic hardware components you need to have a working knowledge of They are

Table of Components Visual reference

CPU – central processing unit

RAM – random access memory

Motherboard – as the name implies also known as the main board.

HDD – Hard disk drive –

ROM DRIVE - CD DVD Blue ray or all

Graphics adaptor – either a separate card or built into the mother board.

PSU – Power supply unit

Chassis – or case

These components make up your basic hardware list there is one other list of components to get familiar with and that is the basic software components

They are

OS – operating system

Apps – or applications

Utilities – PDF readers, Java script, flash Player and others

Anti-virus – and or internet security software

So there you have it the 12 apostles of the modern computer.

This list both hardware and software must be compatible with each other and the best way to ensure that

Is rule number two of computer happiness?

Always keep your hardware and software in the same generation

All computers are based in mathematics and all we have to do is get the sums right and we get a great computer
